CHAPTER THREE

MEMBERSHIP

Article 1: Recognised Engineering Disciplines

In pursuance of the provisions of Article (11) of the Constitution, the recognised engineering disciplines are as set forth in Appendix (1), List (A) of these Bye-Laws.

Article 2: Disciplines Closely Related to Engineering or Architecture

In pursuance of the provisions of Article (10) of the Constitution, Paragraph (6) of the Active Member Category, disciplines which are closely related to engineering or architecture are those as set out in Appendix (1), List (B) of these Bye-Laws.

Article 3: Training Requirements

In pursuance of the provisions of Article (10) of the Constitution, Paragraph No. (7) of the Active Member Category, training requirements are as follows:

The member must have undergone a period of no less than three years of work in engineering after graduation, according to the timetable set by the employer, or must sit for an interview by a specialised committee to be formed by a resolution of the Board of Directors to assess his training programme and academic qualifications. Such committee shall have the right to ask him to sit for a technical test for this purpose.

Article 4: Recognised Universities, Colleges and Professional Institutions

In pursuance of Article (10) of the Constitution, the Board of Directors of the Society shall, from time to time, approve up-to-date lists containing the names of recognised colleges, universities and professional institutions. Such lists shall be updated annually (Appendix (2)).

Article 5

Pursuance to Paragraph (11) of Article (19) of the Constitution, a member shall have the right to use his/here membership title, each according to his/here category and according to Appendix No. (4) of the Bye-Laws.
